The story

From fan project to official app

Jazz on Wick is one day across ten venues in Hackney Wick, with 62 sets running through to afters at 4am. The festival supplied its running order from their master schedule, and the app was built from that — their data, one source.

The festival made it their official companion app. They put it in their mailer, added it to their website and directed people to it in their key information comms. That is what made this one different from We Out Here: the app was the festival's own channel, not something passed round on the side.

It ran free to the festival — a pilot with no cost and no strings, so that both sides could see what an official app does on the day before anyone talks about 2027.

In the field

What the numbers say

Cloudflare Web Analytics for festival week, 31 August – 6 September 2026.

2,240
visits in the festival window
82%
of the whole week's traffic fell in that window
2,730
visits across festival week
785
sessions with at least one interaction during the week

What "the festival window" means: Saturday 00:00 to Sunday 04:00 — 28 hours, covering the day and the afters. It includes the hours before doors, so 2,240 is a fair upper figure rather than a doors-to-close count. These are visits, not people.

Use was real rather than passive. Across the week, 785 sessions did something in the app — switching tabs, starring sets, using the venue filter — with the Line-up and Now & Next views all exercised.

How it's built

What was verified

Each of these was checked on the day, not assumed.

01One file, offline

A single-file app that works offline once it has been opened. An add-to-home-screen prompt gets it onto the phone properly.

02Two ways to look

Views by time or by venue, search, a venue filter and an info section — so people find what they want the way they think about it.

03A personal plan

Star sets to build your own plan, with clash flags when two starred sets overlap.

04Calendar export

Export your plan to your calendar with a 15-minute notification on each set — including the fix that made .ics imports work on Android.

05Through to the afters

The afters ran in the app through to 4am. A dedicated afters section appeared 90 minutes before the 22:30 start, so nobody had to hunt for it.

06Their running order

Built from the festival's master schedule — 62 sets across 10 venues — so the app and the festival said the same thing.

What this one proves

That when a festival puts one of these apps in its own comms, people use it — and keep using it through the afters. It addresses information — what is on, where, and when — and nothing beyond that. It is not a safety or compliance product.

For 2027 the offer is the same engine, branded as your festival's own official app, built from your running order.
